Roper Refrigerator Troubleshooting and Problems
Your Roper refrigerator may give you years of dependable service, but small problems may happen with it to require closer investigation. For example, your refrigerator may make a funny noise you do not recall hearing before, or it may cease working completely.
Change the Light Bulb
Disconnect the power to your Roper refrigerator by unplugging it from the outlet or shutting off the circuit breaker to the refrigerator.
Unscrew the burned-out light bulb from behind the control panel. You will find the control panel on the ceiling of your refrigerator.
Screw in a new 40-watt appliance light bulb. Always make certain the light bulbs you use have the same shape, size and wattage as the original bulb, since all bulbs will not fit in your Roper refrigerator.
Reconnect the power to your refrigerator.
The Refrigerator Does Not Work
Check to see if the power cord became unplugged from the outlet. Make certain you plug it into a grounded, three-pronged outlet.
Look at your home's electric service panel and see if the circuit breaker to the refrigerator tripped or if a fuse blew. A blown fuse appears dark, if it has a glass window, or damaged. A tripped circuit breaker stands out if it has “Off/On” switches–you will see one switched to the “Off” position. Circuit breakers may also have red buttons that pop out when tripped. Press the button in or turn the switch to the “On” position.
Test the outlet for the refrigerator to see if it works by plugging another appliance into that outlet, such as a lamp.
Let your Roper refrigerator chill completely for 24 hours if you recently had a new one installed. Do not place food in the refrigerator until after 24 hours have passed.
Warm Refrigerator, Moisture and Refrigerator Noises
Wait for 24 hours for your newly-installed Roper refrigerator to chill completely.
Close the refrigerator doors fully after every use to keep warm air from entering. Open the refrigerator doors less often each day.
Adjust your refrigerator temperature controls to one setting colder if your kitchen or home has high temperatures. You will see the controls facing you when you open the refrigerator door, in front of the control panel on the refrigerator ceiling.
Cut down on moisture buildup in your refrigerator by opening the doors less often and closing them fully. Humidity in the room will add moisture in your refrigerator.
Listen and learn the normal sounds your refrigerator makes. A hissing or rattling sound means you hear water moving in the water lines or the flow of refrigerant, a cooling substance used in refrigerators. Popping sounds mean the interior refrigerator walls are expanding or contracting, which happens when it first cools down. You may hear running water from melting water during the defrost cycle as it enters the drain pan.
