LG refrigerator freezer not freezing

There are many factors that can cause the LG refrigerator freezer not cooling and these include dirty condenser coils which prevent the dissipation of heat – greatly reducing the cooling capacity of the freezer.

If the coils are frosted over this indicates a problem with the defrost system that turns the heater on throughout the day to melt away the accumulated frost. If the defrost heater is struggling to turn on it may need repairing or replacing.

The condenser fan motor draws air through the condenser and over the condenser coils – if the fan blades are obstructed this will prevent the freezer from cooling. Fan blade motor bearings also wear out over time resulting in the fan motor needing to be replaced.

The compressor is a pump that condenses the refrigerant and circulates it through the evaporator and condenser coils. If this part isn’t working the freezer won’t cool – this needs to be assessed and tested with a multimeter.

The temperature control thermostat directs power to the compressor, evaporator fan motor, and the condenser fan motor. If this is defective the system won’t get any voltage and the freezer won’t cool. A replacement part can easily be fitted by an experienced appliance repair engineer.
