Frigidaire Refrigerator Troubleshooting and Problems
The benefit of having a Frigidaire refrigerator is that they are rarely issues with the appliance. If there’s a problem, most of them will have to be fixed by a technician. But before you call them, you need to make sure you correctly access the problem. To troubleshoot the refrigerator, check your owner’s manual guide to find where the problematic components are in your fridge.
Although some refrigerators are quiet when they operate, if you can’t hear it running or feel the compressor, then that means your fridge isn’t working properly. First, you need to turn the cold control completely off or try unplugging the fridge. Wait a couple of minutes before you turn on the compressor so your refrigerator can run a diagnostic.
Ice Or Water Buildup
If your fridge is experiencing water buildup where your food is or ice buildup in the freezer, most likely you’re dealing with a frost problem or clogged defrost drain. In your fridge directly below the evaporator, there’s a water collection pan. Beneath the water collection pan is a drain hole. Leading from the drain hole is a drain pan that has a drain tube connected to it. If your ice maker isn’t producing ice, check the water supply line to make sure it’s properly connected to the valve. It’s important to check this valve every few months to make sure that it’s properly attached or that the water filter isn’t clogged.
Before you go through all of this trouble, make sure the ice maker’s power switch is even turned on. Sometimes the wire signal arm, which stops the ice maker when the bin is full, can be pushed up. This will also prevent the ice maker from making ice. If that is working, make sure ice cubes aren’t jamming the unit. Overall, if the freezer is above 10 degrees Fahrenheit, the ice maker will not produce ice. If the refrigerator was recently installed, or unplugged, allow the fridge time to reach the proper temperature.
